Nardine Wimmin’s Refuge

We are excited to announce that our next project will be at the Nardine Wimmin’s Refuge which will take place on Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th of October 2019.

The project is an upgrade of their external children’s play area where the women will be able to spend quality time with their children in a safe and secure environment.

Building Belonging Inc. is going to install new pool fencing to enclose the area so the mums can relax with a cuppa while the children play. We are also installing a large shade sail over the area to provide shade on those hot summer days, which currently renders the play area  unusable, a sand pit and possible other interactive equipment.

The refuge provides short term crisis and refuge accommodation for women, with or without children (boys under 18 years) experiencing or at risk of homelessness due to family or domestic violence or other forms of crisis. The refuge also provides advocacy, referrals, and assistance in obtaining long term housing, information, and emotional and practical support.

All the work and infrastructure is 100% donated to the facility without any financial input from Nardine.

If you are able to donate any materials or volunteer some of your time to come down and help out at the project please email Anne at anne@buildingbelonging.org.au
